Large-print word search books
Word search you can actually read.
Big, bold letters. One puzzle per page, and the answers in the back. Three levels, from easy to challenging.

Why it's easier
Made for eyes that have read a lot of books.
Every book in every series, from the relaxing Amber level to the challenging Diamond level, is printed the same careful way.

Big, bold letters
Every grid is printed in bold capital letters, 18 to 20.5 point depending on the book, on big 8.5 × 11 inch pages with plenty of room to circle what you find.
A sample of Atkinson Hyperlegible: the letter B and the number 8, the letter O and the number 0, a capital I, a small l and the number 1, and the letters E and F, each drawn to look clearly different.
Atkinson Hyperlegible, from the Braille Institute A typeface for readers with low vision
The puzzles are set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, from the Braille Institute. It was designed for readers with low vision, so characters that are easy to mix up, like B and 8 or E and F, look clearly different. It's the typeface you're reading now.

One puzzle per page
Each grid gets a whole page to itself, with the word list underneath, a box to tick beside every word, and something extra at the top: a new word to learn, a “Do you remember?” fact or a King James verse, depending on the book.

Answers in the back
Every book has a full answer key in the back, with each word circled, so nobody stays stuck.
Regular print vs. Big Easy-Read
The same grid, twice. Drag the handle to compare.
The books
Choose your level.
Every book is large print, with one puzzle per page and the answers in the back. The series tells you how hard the hunt is.

About us
Puzzles worth slowing down for.
Sunny Side Puzzle Press is a small, independent publisher of puzzle books, run entirely online. Our books are by Clara Sunmere.
We think a puzzle book can be more than a way to pass the time. Every book is large print and easy on the eyes, and every puzzle page gives you something to keep: a word worth learning, with how to say it, what it means and where it came from, a true “Do you remember?” fact, or a King James verse.
Choose your level, from the relaxing Amber Series to the challenging Diamond Series: premium puzzles for word lovers, from teens to grandparents.

Checked, puzzle by puzzle
Our own software builds and checks every grid, so each listed word is hidden exactly once and the answer key matches.
Words we looked up
The pronunciation, meaning and origin of every featured word were checked against Merriam-Webster and Etymonline. Every “Do you remember?” fact was checked against two published sources, and every King James verse against two public-domain King James texts.
Printed by Amazon
Our paperbacks are printed and shipped by Amazon. A problem with a book, or an idea for one? We read every email.
Good to know
Questions people ask before they buy.
How big is the print, really?
The puzzle letters are bold capitals: 20.5 pt in The Big Easy-Read Word Hunt, 18.5 pt in The Big Easy-Read Christmas Word Hunt, 18 pt in Old Testament Stories, 18 pt in Words Worth Loving, 18 pt in Christmas Words, 18 pt in Do You Remember?, 18 pt in Words Worth Knowing and 18 pt in Winter Words. Every book is 8.5 × 11 inches (21.6 × 27.9 cm), with one puzzle to a page, so there's plenty of room to circle what you find.
What's special about the typeface?
It's Atkinson Hyperlegible, made by the Braille Institute for readers with low vision. Characters that are easy to confuse, like B and 8, O and 0, or E and F, are drawn to look clearly different. It's the same typeface you're reading on this website.
Which level should I choose?
We have three series, one for each level. The ribbon on every cover names the series, and the badge shows Level 1, 2 or 3. Amber (easy) is the relaxing one, and a good start for anyone new to word searches. Every word reads forward: across, down, or slanting down to the right. Sapphire (medium) is a step up. Words run across both ways, up and down, and slanting down to the right. Diamond (challenging) is for anyone who finds ordinary word searches too easy. Words hide in all eight directions, with overlaps and near misses. Not sure? Try this week's free puzzle at each level.
Do any words run backward?
Not in the Amber (easy) books. Every word reads forward: across, down, or slanting down to the right, with no backward, upward or reversed words. The Sapphire (medium) level adds backward and upward words, and the Diamond (challenging) level uses all eight directions.
What else is on each page?
In most of our books, a word to learn. The Big Easy-Read Word Hunt and The Big Easy-Read Christmas Word Hunt have a Word to Know on every puzzle page, like TRIVET or LEBKUCHEN. Words Worth Loving has a word worth loving on every page, like JUBILANT, plus a hidden gem: that word is hidden in the grid too, but not in the list. Christmas Words has a word worth loving on every page, like JOVIAL, plus a hidden gem: that word is hidden in the grid too, but not in the list. Words Worth Knowing has a word worth knowing on every page, like PETRICHOR, plus a hidden gem: that word is hidden in the grid too, but not in the list. Winter Words has a word worth knowing on every page, like SASTRUGI, plus a hidden gem: that word is hidden in the grid too, but not in the list. Each one comes with how to say it, what it means and where it came from. Old Testament Stories has a King James verse on every page, quoted word for word, plus a hidden gem from the story and a secret line spelled by the leftover letters. Do You Remember? has a true “Do you remember?” fact on every page, plus a hidden gem with a clue and a secret question spelled by the leftover letters.
Are the answers included?
Yes. A full answer key sits at the back of every book, with each word circled.
How many puzzles are in each book?
100 in each, one per page, with the word list under the grid and a tick box beside every word. There are 1,824 words to find in The Big Easy-Read Word Hunt, 3,000 in The Big Easy-Read Christmas Word Hunt, 2,500 in Old Testament Stories, 2,500 in Words Worth Loving, 2,500 in Christmas Words, 2,500 in Do You Remember?, 2,000 in Words Worth Knowing and 2,000 in Winter Words.
Are they only for seniors?
Not at all. We make them with older eyes in mind, but a clear, uncrowded page is easier for anyone. For teens and adults who love words and want more of a challenge, the Sapphire level adds backward and upward words, and Words Worth Loving has a word worth loving on every page, like JUBILANT. The Diamond level is our hardest.
Can I copy the puzzles for my group?
Our free puzzles, yes: three new ones every Monday, free to print and share for personal use, classrooms, senior centers and activity groups. The books themselves say their puzzles may be photocopied for personal use.
What size are the books?
All eight are paperbacks, 8.5 × 11 inches (21.6 × 27.9 cm), with 132 to 142 pages.
